Well Emma Grace had her first baby shower on Sunday, Jan. 27. Spoiled little thing. She got so many nice gifts!!! I have all her gifts piled in the pack n play right now. You should see it! It's full. I'll have to get another before our next shower. ha ha!! The shower was hosted by Tammi & Erin Peters in Fayetteville. The guests were my mom's friends from Fayetteville.
My mom did the neatest thing. When I got married she found a $25 savings bond given to me by my grandfather in 1978. He died in 2001 and I married in 2003. She took the bond to the bank to find out the value, but it didn't expire until 2008, so she decided to keep it. Well a few weeks ago, she cashed it in and it was worth $104.74~ So she purchased a pack n play with the money, and gave the pack n play to me from my grandfather. It made me cry . That was so creative and special!

Picture pain
Well I'm having a hard time putting all the VA pics on the blog. I'll try later when I have more time. Need to figure out how to do a slide show of them all. :)
Visiting with Steph & Tony
Well we made the hike to Quantico, VA last weekend to visit some of our closest friends Steph & Tony. Tony is a marine stationed at Quantico. Tony and Bradley were college friends/roommates/teammates in college. Steph is my best friend from college. Hard to believe she's been a part of my life for 13+ years!!! Geez, I've almost known her half my life!!
Anyway we had a great time. It was cold as Antartica (but I heard it was just as cold at home). We left for VA on Friday afternoon. Met Steph & Tony at a mexican restaraunt for dinner when we got there. Saturday I went with Steph to a baby shower for a friend of hers and then we went to look at the boat Tony wants to buy. It is pretty sweet! That night we ate at Uno's Pizzaria. Sunday we just went in to Fredricksburg to pick up a kitchen set at my aunt Joan's house. This kitchen set was my grandmother's.... it's 75 years old!!! So Emma Grace will have an antique :) Then we went to Steph's parents house in Fburg. Visited with them for a while. Sunday night Steph and I went to see 27 Dresses while the boys watched football. Btw- don't waste your $ on 27 Dresses in the theater. If you love Kathrine Heigel, just wait til it comes out on DVD. You know what I decided- I think she's a better actress on Grey's Anatomy. Not a great movie actress.
Monday we ate some lunch together, before Bradley and I drove home to NC. I really like traveling, but I love coming home! Especially to my baby Zeus. He was so excited to see us! Zeus likes visiting, but he loves to be home too. My mom said he hardly ate at her house and sure enough, we get home, I fill his bowl of food and he SCARFED it down! Poor guy was starving!!! I think he just gets nervous being away. Then he went to his favorite spot ( Bradley's side of the bed) curled up and was asleep by 8. In fact, he's sleeping now! And it's 8 a.m.!! What a baby :)
Here are some pictures of our weekend....

Rainy Day, Doctor's Appointment
It's a dreary day here in NC. Winter weather advisory this a.m. Of course it turned out to be nothing. Sure wish I could get paid to be wrong all the time (aka weather forecasters). Anyway, had to drive to my doc. appt. in the rain. Fun fun. I just love driving I-40 in heavy rain. People can't drive!!
Anyway, on to my doc. appt. It was the one where they test for gestational diabetes. So after the usual weighing in (my personal favorite- yeah right), peeing in the cup and taking the blood pressure, I had to drink a very large amount of this syrupy fruit punch flavored drink. Kind of reminded me of the red freezer pops. Then I had to sit an hour before they drew my blood and off I went. Actually in the meanwhile I did see the doctor. He measured me and I am measuring 27 inches, which he said is good considering I'm 26 weeks. Not to big not too small. He did ask if I feel the baby move everyday. Um yeah- that's an understatement. She's doing olympic gymnastics moves in there buddy! I'd say yes, I can feel her move. Her heart rate was strong and steady. So everything was fine.
My next appt. is on Feb. 13 and they'll be able to do a 3D ultrasound. I'm super psyched about that! Bradley will be joining me for that. And I get to see Dr. Martin. She's my favorite. I want her to deliver my baby. She's the one that told me by my 7th month she can tell if I'll have to have a c-section. Well... I'll be 7mts. at my next appt. and it's with her. So I feel it's a good thing.
Tomorrow Bradley and I are off to VA to visit Steph & Tony!!

A friend of a friend
So I put a website entitled this on the great websites links. But I want to expound on it. My friend Patience has two friends who just had a baby. Their blog is www.cfhusband.blogspot.com. Their story is this: the wife has Cystic Fibrosis and found out she was pregnant (unplanned). The doctors encouraged her to abort b/c she was on a waiting list for a lung transplant. She and her husband knew aborting this child God have given them was not the right thing to do, so she carried the baby. At 24 weeks she had to give birth via c-section b/c the baby was making her CF symptoms worse. The baby Gwenyth Rose is at Duke along with mom as they are both healing and gaining strength. The mom, Tricia, is waiting on a lung transplant. The blog is written by Nate, the father & husband. Their story is incredible and the trust they have in God is amazing. Please pray for them.
For me to read their blog ( I look at it daily) is incredible b/c Gwenyth is the same age as Emma Grace. So here is a child outside the womb that shows me what my daughter looks like inside my womb. Hard to explain- but very moving for me to see.

Dream Girls the musical
Good evening. It's evening as I write. Getting dark now. Anyway, my mom and I went to see Dream Girls at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium today. Very good. Glad we got to go. Now I'm getting ready to put on some comfy clothes and curl up on the couch with my current read. Btw- if you read, definitely pick up Pillars of the Earth. AWESOME! I would NEVER read something like this, but my mom bought it for me and I cannot put it down. In fact, on Thurs. I have a doc appt. and I have to sit for an hour waiting on gestational diabetes testing. I am not looking forward to the testing...BUT...I'm definitely looking forward to a solid hour of peaceful, uninterrupted reading!

Finally! I'm Blogging!
So ever since I found out I was pregnant my best friend Steph has been pestering (jk Steph!) me to start a website. I think I was overwhelmed by the whole blogging experience, so I just procrastinated. But now I have started one. It's not like I don't have time to do it... so why not?! Plus Emma Grace (that's the little one growing in my belly) will be here soon, and I'm sure I'll be writing about her a lot. So I need to get practicing.
I just was reading a blog - check it out... www.cfhusband.blogspot.com. An amazing story of a guy and a girl and their teenie tiny new baby. God is working in their lives in an unbelievable way. Not to mention, their baby who was delivered at 24 weeks 4 days, is the same exact age as mine. So to see pics of her outside the womb is amazing...
